Migraine is a common episodic disorder, the hallmark of which is a disabling headache generally associated with nausea and/or light and sound sensitivity

For moderate to severe migraine attacks not associated with vomiting or severe nausea, oral migraine-specific agents are first-line, including oral triptans

 Patients who present with migraine in emergency settings generally have unusually severe attacks, and in many cases, their customary acute migraine treatment has failed to provide relief
